AI agent incident

Attackers seeded the web to poison ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overview answers

Reported · 1 source

What happened

Dark Reading reported an active phishing and disinformation campaign that plants optimized malicious links across the web so ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overview surface them in their answers.

Why it matters

The poisoning happens outside your perimeter and arrives as a citation staff already trust. An agent that browses and cites the web needs link checks of its own, because the model supplies none.
