AI agent incident

Grok Build uploaded whole directories, including SSH keys, by default

Reported · 1 source

What happened

xAI open-sourced the Grok Build coding agent's codebase after a backlash over its default behaviour of uploading entire working directories to the cloud, SSH keys included.

Why it matters

The exfiltration here was a documented default rather than a vulnerability, which is a reminder that the first thing to audit in a coding agent is what it sends home before anyone attacks it.
