AI agent incident

An attacker used hundreds of AI agents to compromise more than 440 PaperCut instances

Reported · 2 sources

What happened

Blackpoint Cyber and GreyNoise reported a suspected Russian-speaking actor running hundreds of AI agents against PaperCut NG/MF flaws, compromising more than 440 instances. Dark Reading described the same swarm building lab environments, running reconnaissance, moving laterally and exfiltrating data end to end.

Why it matters

Exploitation of known flaws used to be rate-limited by how many targets one operator could be bothered with. 440 instances from a single actor means the patch window is now racing a swarm.
